Building bridges across generations

Youth and seniors finding connections

Since its beginnings, On Lok has been committed to involving children of all ages in the lives of community seniors through opportunities that foster mutually beneficial relationships. What began as a natural extension of simple social interactions with neighbors and family members grew into Intergenerational Programming available at all On Lok centers.

Intergenerational Programs at On Lok include visits and special projects with neighboring elementary, junior high and high schools, with both general and special education classes, as well as preschools and youth groups, with participants ranging in age from 2 to 102.

Intergenerational Program activities can be a one-time visit, regular visits, or special projects involving youth and seniors.
